Captain Peter Shaarda was born and raised in Naples, Florida. Growing up in the coastal community ensured boating, fishing, lobstering and water sports were his favorite hobbies. At the age of seven, Peter was able to operate the family’s 23-foot center console boat by himself, even loading and unloading off the trailer. He always turned heads on the water as people were shocked to see such a capable young man at the helm.

Peter graduated from Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida with a bachelor’s degree in business management. After college, he owned and operated a successful charter fishing company for seven years. In 2005, Peter’s dream of working on big boats became his reality and he broke into the sportfishing industry.

After multiple mate positions and a few captains’ positions on various yachts and sportfish boats, he landed his dream job on a privately owned traveling sportfish. This new captain’s position took him south to St Thomas, USVI and Aruba. It took him west to Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, and Mexico. He has also chased the bluefin tuna up in Cape Cod. When it came time for the owner to upgrade his sportfish, the sale of the sportfish went through with ease. Peter had the vessel in such immaculate condition that the surveyor had almost nothing to write about and the boat closed without any negotiations after the survey. This was a first for the seasoned broker who managed the sale.

Peter made Jupiter, Florida his homebase in 2007. When not working, you can find Peter on the Jupiter waterways with his wife, two sons and two potcakes. Following in his dad’s footsteps, Peter’s ten-year-old son has developed a passion for boating and operates the family boat better than many adults on the water – he is learning from the best!
